KIIT women qualify for All-India volleyball final

KIIT University qualified for the All-India Inter-Zone University Women Volleyball Tournament by finishing fourth in the East Zone Inter-University Tournament, which was held at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar from 7 to 10 December, 2019.

Adamas University, University of Calcutta and Rabindra Bharati University also made it to the All-India Inter-Zone Tournament, which is scheduled to be held at Kurukshetra University, Haryana from 16 to 20 December, 2019.

Adamas University emerged champions in the East Zone, while University of Calcutta and Rabindra Bharati University finished second and third respectively.

In their two matches KIIT University beat Patna University 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-6) and Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 30-28) in quarterfinals.

A total of 28 universities, including 14 from Odisha, participated in the tournament, which was inaugurated by Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister Pratap Jena, in the presence of KIIT Deemed to be University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Sasmita Samanta.

Sports Authority of India Regional Director Shiv Sharma and Association of Indian Universities Sports and Youth Affairs Joint Secretary Dr Baljit Singh Sekhon handed over the trophies at the closing ceremony. KIIT-Deemed to be University Sports Director Dr Gaganendu Dash was present on the occasion.
